We reported at the beginning of January that two thirds of our applicants at that point had registered as tenant's since the Christmas break and in the 1st three weeks of January we carried out 400 viewings!
It was hard to judge at that stage whether this was just a seasonal rush or if it was a sign of just how buoyant the lettings market is likely to be this year. As we start the final month of the 1st quarter of the year, this strong demand for rental homes shows no signs of abating.
We are monitoring instruction levels against tenant numbers as some areas are reporting a lack of supply pushing rents up. We have not seen this trend yet in our area but this is likely due to the changes in legislation for landlords this year. Despite these changes we do still feel buy to let property is a sound investment.
Our latest figures show that we had the highest amount of tenant's move in to new homes last month since November 2015, and prior to that December 2014!
Our lettings team have been seriously busy and in fact we are recruiting for a full time inventory clerk right now to add to our team.
