Who Exactly is Selling Your Home?

A survey of house buyers, sellers, landlords and tenants undertaken by PropertyMark over the last five years worryingly discovered that many believe estate agents are regulated by a professional body, when they’re not. With over half of those surveyed stating that they experienced problems, how do you know that you’re employing the services of a sales or letting agent who you can really trust or rely on when issues arise? Or that they are properly qualified?

As there is no mandatory regulation of estate agents, the idea that ‘anyone can become an estate agent’ is not far from the truth. Did you know that Bramleys has qualified staff in every office? Their experience and local market knowledge makes sure that the price is right, and you maximise on your profit. On average we achieve 97% of the original asking price on each home we sell for our vendors.

Our Chartered Surveyors (Simon, Graeme, Alex, Jonathan, Andy and Lindsey) are all governed by RICS (Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors), the global professional body promoting and enforcing the highest international standards in the valuation, management and development of land, real estate, construction and infrastructure. Each branch also has staff (Paul, Helen, Fran, Dan, Tara, Antonia, Lisa, Careen, Gemma, and Hannah) who are Members of the National Association of Estate Agents. As you can see it’s not just one or two of our staff who are qualified! To enable them to remain so they are required to undergo yearly continued professional development, to keep them up to date with changes in legislation and the housing market.

However here at Bramleys we like to go one step further. In an unregulated sector, you can have additional peace of mind as Bramleys have voluntarily opted for regulation. We believe in providing an ethical, quality, professional service - after all you wouldn’t be happy if you found out the hospital porter was performing your surgery! The cheaper option isn’t always the best option if you’re not properly protected should things go wrong.

As estate agents, letting agents, auctioneers and valuerswho display the ‘Propertymark Protected’ logo we aim to actively provide maximum protection to you, our clients and follow their conduct and membership rules.

PropertyMark promotes higher standards than the law demands and campaigns for more laws and enforcement to regulate the sector. Members are held accountable in order to protect you, the consumer and your money. Bramleys holds both the NAEA (National Association of Estate Agents) PropertyMark for buying and selling property and the ARLA (Association of Registered Letting Agents) PropertyMark for lettings and rental properties.

All five branches of Bramleys are registered with The Property Ombudsman and in the unlikely event we can’t resolve a dispute in house, you can be reassured that there is someone else to talk to.

The Property Ombudsman (TPO)

The Property Ombudsman provides a "free, fair and independent service for dealing with unresolved disputes between sales and letting agents who have joined TPO and consumers who are actual or potential buyers or sellers or landlords or tenants of residential property in the UK". You can read
