Fundraising by Numbers

Fundraising by Numbers
9th June 2016

Last year we ran Leeds 10k for Forget me Not children's hospice and had a great time whilst supporting this worthy local charity.

We knew we would want to do it again this year but we got thinking about how we could improve on what we did last year.

Fundraising by Numbers was born off the back of some fairly emotional conversations and experiences of staff in the office. We have in our local area, three prominent hospice's that are known to us all for varying reasons.

These inspiring charities are funded almost entirely by public donations and have touched our lives in the hardest of times.

We didn't want to raise money for just one, as how on earth could we choose?

So Fundraising by Numbers, here's the stats:

On Sunday 10th July we will head over to Leeds with our team. Its a great route through the city centre with plenty of people cheering on the runners which really helps!

7 Runners:

A team of runners aged from 15 to 55! Our runners this year will be Jonathan Uttley one of our Commercial team, sales negotiator Abigail Kinder, Rachael Hey ( now works as an accountant but wanted to come back and run again ), Dan Keighley Assistant Manager at Huddersfield, Tara Stone branch manager at our Elland Office, her 15 year old daughter Annie, and finally partner Paul Keighley.

6 Weeks:

We have mixed fitness levels, our training has coincided with the warm weather arriving in Yorkshire. There's ALOT of hills around these parts that seem so miniscule in a car, yet our calf muscles tell a different story! We need to dig deep.

3 Charities:

It costs £2.5m to run Forget me Not children's hospice per year, of which just 4% comes from the Government. They support more than 185 children with life limiting conditions and their families . Overgate hospice costs £3.5m to run with £2.5m coming from the generosity of local people, and Kirkwood, the largest of the 3 has running costs of £6m a year.

The support of the community is vital to safeguard the work that these charities do for years to come. We, not only as a business but as decent human beings, want to do all we can to help.

1 Goal:

We aren't afraid to beg, bribe, plead, emotionally blackmail, and generally badger everyone we know and many people we don't in our goal to raise as much money as we can. Every little really does help so please if you would like to donate here's the link below.
